<\/span>Therese Waldner<\/span><\/div><\/div>[vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n

Therese Waldner is a Polish opera singer who performs on many prestigous, international stages.<\/p>\n

She has worked with leading world conductors, eg. Lorin Maazel,Ricardo Muti, Giancarlo Gelmetti and Marcelo Viotti.<\/p>\n

She has created, in variuos classical and modern stagings, 54 lirico-spinto, spinto and dramatic soprano parts.<\/p>\n

For her outstanding achievements she was awarded with the Kammersangerin<\/strong> title in Germany. She was called the “Prima donna assoluta of verismo” by critics.<\/p>\n

She has also been rated for her voice timber, singing and acting skills. In the recent years she has been often invited to work with young singers and to give them some technical and interpretation guidance.<\/p>\n

Teresa Borowczyk-Pekowska was born in Wilcza in Pozna\u0144 Province. She attended the Secondary Music School in Kalisz where she was studying solo singing in the class of Prof. Lidia Ma\u0142achowicz. Then, she graduated with distinction from the Department of Vocal and Acting Studies, Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw, in the singing class of Prof Alina Bolechowska.<\/p>\n

As an outstandingly talented student, she debuted at the Grand Theatre in Warsaw in the premiere show of Albert Hering<\/em> by Britten as Lady Billows.<\/p>\n

In the years 1985-92 she was a Grand Theatre soloist and sang, among others, the parts of Mimi, Ulana and Leonora in Fidelio. <\/em>In 1990 Ms Borowczyk-Pekowska was awarded the third prize at the Madama Butterfly contest in Florida and in 1991 she got a special prize at the Belvedere contest in Vienna. Following the contest, she was employed by the Bremen Theatre where she sang in the seasons of 1992-1995.<\/p>\n

In the years 1995-1998 she was a soloist at the Badisches Staatstheatre in Karlsruhe and from 1998 to 2009 she was a soloist at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein in D\u00fcsseldorf where she sang, among others, the parts of Tosca, Aida, Leonore\u00a0 (Trubadur<\/em>), Madama Butterfly, Desdemona and Elisabeth (Don Carlos), <\/em>Santuzza, Jenufa, Siglinda, Elizabeth (Tannh\u00e4user<\/em>), Senta, Leonora (Fidelio<\/em>), Abigail (Nabucco<\/em>), etc.<\/p>\n

At the Deutsche Oper am Rhein she had an undisputed position of the primadonna assoluta <\/em>of verismo.<\/p>\n

She performed as a guest on prestigious stages in Europe, USA, Japan, South America, including but not limited to Hamburg, Florence, Salzburg, Stockholm, Liege, Gent, Paris, San Paulo, Prague, Curitiba and Monte Carlo.<\/p>\n

In 2003 she debuted at the La Scala in Milan where, under the baton of Ricardo Muti, she sang the part of Leonora in Fidelio <\/em>by Beethoven.<\/p>\n

In 2004 she was involved in the first Brazilian performance of Jenufa<\/em> in San Paulo where she sang the title part of Jenufa.<\/p>\n

In 2005 in the first post-war performance of Ring of the Nibelung<\/em> by Richard Wagner at the National Theatre in Prague she sang the part of Siglinda.<\/p>\n

She participated in opera festivals in Salzburg and Torre del Lago and cooperated with eminent conductors including but not limited to Ricardo Muti, Lorin Maazel and Marcelo Viotti.<\/p>\n

Teresa Borowczyk-Pekowska was awarded a diploma of the Minister of Foreign Affairs for outstanding merits in Polish culture in the world.<\/p>\n

In 2009 the mayors of D\u00fcsseldorf and Duisburg and the management of the Deutsche Oper am Rhein awarded her the prestigious title of Kammers\u00e4ngerin<\/em> which is given in Germany and Austria to musicians for their outstanding artistic achievements. On this occasion, the General Consular in Cologne issued a letter of congratulation, emphasising the merits of Theresa Waldner in the promotion of the image of Poland worldwide.<\/p>\n

In 2010, after years of absence, she sang the part of Chrysothemis in Elektra<\/em> by Richard Strauss.<\/p>\n

In November 2012 she was awarded the degree of Doctor of Arts for the doctoral thesis entitled \u201cPsychology of woman in\u00a0 Tosca <\/em>\u00a0by Giacomo Puccini on the basis of traditional and contemporary productions\u201d defended at the Vocal Department of the University of Music in Bydgoszcz. In 2013 this thesis was published in the form of the book by the Scientific Society of Organisation and Management in Toru\u0144.<\/p>\n

In the seasons 2012\/2013, 2013\/2014 and 2015 she cooperated with the National Theatre in Ostrava, the Czech Republic, where she sang, among others, the part of Wally in the La Wally<\/em> opera, Ortrud in Lohengrin<\/em> and Abigail in Nabucco. <\/em><\/p>\n

In 2016 she participated in the \u201cBaikal Breath\u201d Festival and held the Opera Workshops for Young Artists in Irkutsk, Russia.<\/p>\n
