Dear Mrs Waldner,<\/p>\n

On 2nd March I saw you playing Tosca and I would like to thank you for creating such an impressive character.
\nYou gave Tosca a human credibility, which I had never experienced before. I realized, for the first time, that during the performance Tosca evolves from a jealous lover into a woman, who is able to kill in the name of love and pride. The way you acted the Scarpia\u2019s murder, the grief and the fright afterwards was almost too intense. I had a feeling, at some points, that you could have been lost in this role, becoming too much identified with Tosca\u2019s fate. You played a woman, who walks to the borders of her life and is not afraid to expose herself to the existential danger. Dear Mrs. Waldner, I would like to thank you for this touching Tosca with a book that I wrote a few years ago. It is not about the opera, but it deals with music- with the author of the book about Bruckner\u2019s Symphonies. Maybe you\u2019ll like these or some other thoughts.<\/p>\n

Every time I watch Tosca <\/em>I compare it with your interpretation of Floria Tosca I have seen several times in the opera of D\u00fcsseldorf. Things you achieved as Tosca- both in terms of singing and acting \u2013 are, for me, unmatchable (beyond compare) and still, after so many years, I admire you a lot. I go to the MET, La Scala, Covent Garden, the Wien Opera and the Staatoper in Berlin from time to time and I have also got the Deutsche Oper am Rhein season ticket. But this is the first time I am writing to an opera singer. Yesterday I heard you as Lady Macbeth in the Duisburg Opera. I must admit that I did not expect to experience something like this, as this opera part is difficult to sing for your singing voice and many other singers fail to sin git well. Therefore, I am much less delighted and I want to congratulate. You gave me an unforgeable evening, that I will remember for a long time, especially when I listen to a life-recording from 1952 with Maria Callas. You were not worse than her! Thank you a lot! As you may already know, I am a music journalist without a residency. I write for the Rheinische Post newspaper in Duisburg mostly (besides, as a scientist-theorist, I am interested in the music of the Baltic region, including Poland). I admired you, quite often, on the stages of Dusseldorf or Duisburg operas, eg. as Tosca, in The Triptych <\/em>or at the rehearsal open to public at La Wally last Tuesday!<\/p>\n

I have just written in my newspaper article that, for me, you are a genius impersonator of this strong, but also sensitive character. Unfortunately, I cannot be at the premiere and also I will not be able to write about it, but I will probably be on the performance on October 1st. Good luck at the premiere!
